Mexico: Peña Nieto Opposed to Legalization

Mexican government officials announced plans on Wednesday to hold a series of forums in January on the issue of the legalization of marijuana. President Enrique Peña Nieto immediately reiterated his stiff opposition to the measure. A month ago the Supreme Court gave four legalization advocates the right to cultivate and consume marijuana for personal use. Since then over 50 organizations are fighting for the same rights in the courts, citing scientific, health and social evidence to support their cases. Many say the regulation of marijuana will be a major blow against organized crime. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City for teleSUR.
