Thousands of people have been asked to evacuate an area of over six kilometers surrounding the Momotombo volcano to the north of Nicaragua’s capital city Managua. The volcano erupted for the first time in 110 years, spilling red hot lava that is headed for sparsely populated areas, according to official reports.
