You probably think this is the face of a Paris suicide bomber — you're wrong

RABAT — Pictures of Nabila Bakkath were all over newsfeeds last week. Photos of the Moroccan woman were falsely reported to be pictures of Hasna Ait Boulahcen, a suspected female terrorist who was killed in the Saint-Denis raids following the Paris terror attacks.

Bakkath was shocked when she saw her picture being associated with the Paris terror attacks. She has received calls from concerned family members — others have refused to talk to her.

Bakkath says the photo was taken in Paris more than a decade ago by a now ex-friend. That "friend" then sold the picture to a journalist from the Daily Mail who ran with the story before taking the time to verify the source. The Daily Mail attributed the photos to Simon Ashton, which is also the name of famous hacker hoax.

News outlets have updated their original reports, but Bakkath says the damage has already been done. She's currently in the process of suing both her friend and the reporter.

As for Hasna Ait Boulahcen, she was killed in the raid, but the suicide vest was worn by a male militant.
