Jewish school teacher stabbed by three ISIS supporters in Marseille

MARSEILLE, FRANCE — Police are on a manhunt for three men involved in the stabbing of a Jewish teacher in a southern French city.
On Wednesday evening, a trio reportedly claiming to support the Islamic State attacked a 57-year-old man in Marseille.
The Jewish Journal reports that the man, a history teacher at a Jewish school, was an observant Jew with a full beard. He was wearing a kippah while walking through the city's 13th district around 8 p.m when three men on two scooters approached him. According to the New York Post, the assailant wearing a shirt with ISIS imagery on it showed the man a photo on his phone of Mohammed Merah, the French-born Islamist who killed seven people in a series of attacks in France in 2012. The assailant then reportedly took out a knife and began stabbing the teacher.
The two other men did not physically attack the victim, but joined the attacker in voicing anti-Semitic phrase and profanities at the teacher.
The approach of a car prompted the trio to flee. The teacher suffered stab wounds to the arms, legs, and stomach, according to The Local.
The incident comes as France remains in a state of emergency following last Friday's deadly attacks that left 129 dead in Paris.
