Lilia Prado Dances to Perez Prado's Mambo #5

Lilia Prado was a Mexican actress who also excelled as a dancer. She came from Michoacan State, Mexico where she was born in 1928. After winning a beauty contest, she began acting, soon getting leading roles eventually credited in over 100 films during the Golden age of Mexican Cinema. Lilia passed away in Mexico City in 2006.
Damaso Perez Prado was born in Cuba in 1916 and became a citizen of Mexico in 1980. Perez Prado became known as the King of the Mambo. He has moved to Mexico in 1949 to form his own band and record for RCA Victor quickly specializing in the mambo. He had previously worked in the Havana Casino Orchestras in the 1940s and for a while was pianist and arranger for Cuba's most famous musical group, Sonora Matancera. In 1955, Perez's cha cha version of Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White would hold at #1 on the US charts for 10 weeks. His "Patricia" also took a #1 spot in the US and Germany. He was revered as a giant of the music industry. He died in Mexico City in 1989
Although Lilia and Perez shared a family name, they were not kin. The movie Pobre Corazon was shot in Mexico and was produced by Producciones Calderon.
