Cultura Latina – The Day of the Dead in Latin America

Today our host Mauricio Izquierdo takes us to Mexico, Bolivia and Ecuador to look at the differences and similarities among the rituals and customs in each country. In Bolivia, the Aymara people celebrate All Souls and All Saints Day with bread, fruit and dance in honor of their ancestors. Mexico is known worldwide for the little skulls placed on altars to honor the dead. Many people visit their loved ones in the cemeteries and include a glass of water in their offering for the dead who come to visit. In Ecuador, indigenous people go to the cemeteries to pray and share a meal with their lost loved ones, thus keeping their traditions alive.teleSUR
