October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With one in four women in the U.S. experiencing abuse in their lifetime, Mary Kay will be sharing one story from a domestic violence survivor every week during October to help raise awareness of this important issue. This week’s story is from Monica Barraza.
Monica’s earliest memory is of her mother being severely beaten. She knew that was not the way it was supposed to be, and believed she would never let anyone lay their hands on her. She never believed that she would be part of a domestic violence statistic. Learn about how Monica overcame her abuser through the help and support of a local women’s shelter.
