Results from Argentina’s Sunday elections showed the conservative opposition candidate Mauricio Macri surpassing expectations and forcing a runoff election on November 22. Supporters of the ruling party candidate Daniel Scioli were shocked and disappointed as the first results came in, making it clear that he did not win the first round and faces a tough battle in the second. With over 97% of the votes counted, Scioli captured 37% of the votes, and Macri 34%. Although the presidential race was a disappointment for the ruling party, it remains dominant in the Senate. teleSUR
