Truck driver and passenger rescued from bamboo sticks after crash

Footage has emerged from China of firefighters rescuing two people out of a truck loaded with bamboo sticks after it suffered a nasty collision on a highway.

In the video, filmed during the midnight rescue in Anhui Province this month, firefighters can be seen cutting up the truck door to pull out the driver and widening the crashed cab to save the passenger who is trapped in the back seat.

According to news reports, the bamboo stick lorry bumped into another truck during the night trip, causing both vehicles to turn over on the motorway.

While the front driver escaped unscathed, the two occupants in the bamboo carrier had to be hospitalised after rescue.
