16-Year-Old From Florida Wants To Run For President
  • 9 years ago
Elijah Manley is a 16-year-old high school student living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His whole life he was told he couldn't do things; his sights were set too high. That isn't stopping him from pursuing his dreams... like running for President of the United States in 2016.

He has always been interested in politics. Throughout his life, he has met several politicians, foreign dignitaries and local congressman. They really helped to inspire him to begin this journey. A real turning point was in 2012 when Elijah worked on Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. “It was fascinating to see how a real campaign worked,” says Elijah.

He continues to work with several politicians on youth issues, including Congresswoman and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Rep. Alcee Hastings, and other notable politicians. He is also an active member of the 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale's Leadership Academy, President of the Youth Assembly, a Criminal Justice student, and a Cadet Petty Officer 2nd Class in the Navy JROTC.

If Elijah wins the election, he can’t be inaugurated until he is 35. That small technicality isn’t holding him back from his mission. Thought people have their doubts, his mom has always been on his side offering her love and support. He hopes to prove everyone wrong and change the world. Elijah Manley for President!
