Cuba: Drought Damages Sugar Cane Crop

The worst drought in a century has damaged Cuba’s sugar cane set for harvest in the coming months. Recent rainfall, however, means that output could still top the previous harvest. Cuba produced 1.9 million tons of raw sugar cane in 2014-2015, 18% more than in the previous year. Despite the damage done, similar growth is expected in the 2015-2016 harvest this coming October. teleSUR
