Honduran Congressional VP Accused of Fraud

Honduran National Congress Vice President and member of the ruling National Party Lena Gutierrez is being accused of fraud and other crimes for selling fake medicine to the public health system. The trial may last two years, which would, in effect, remove her from office. Gutierrez and her two sisters are also accused of the falsification of public documents. Observers point out that she could face 10 years in prison and that the charges against her damage the image of the country’s ruling National Party. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR.
