Portugal's centre-right is re-elected in parliamentary poll

Portugal’s Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho and the centre right has won the country’s parliamentary election.

Although they won most votes in Sunday’s poll they have fallen short of an overall majority.

It is the first time in Europe that a leader who has imposed austerity measures on voters under an international bailout package has been re-elected.

Passos Coelho’s Socialist challenger Antonio Costa has conceded defeat.
