LGBTI Leaders Meet in Honduras to Discuss Regional Alliance

More than 300 political leaders of the LGBTI community of Latin America and the Caribbean met in Tegucigalpa to discuss challenges and the formation of a regional alliance. They seek the recognition of the rights of all citizens regardless of their sexual preference. Honduras is now the most dangerous country on the continent for LGBTI communities with more than 70 people killed since the 2009 coup d’etat. This is the second such meeting held in the country, which may well become a regional space to coordinate actions that could help to leave discrimination and homophobia behind.
