Catalonia: exit polls suggest separatist coalition will win vote
  • 9 years ago
Exit polls suggest a coalition of separatist parties will win control of parliament in Catalonia.

They are on track to win a majority of seats in the 135-strong assembly.

Turnout is said to be at an historic high – around seven percent up on the election in 2012.

Follow the news on the vote which will decide whether Catalonia embarks on process to gain independence from Spain.

The result could set the region on course for a unilateral declaration of independence from Spain, which the Spanish centre-right government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy says is impossible.

The vote may also influence the outcome of the Spanish general election later in the year.
