The Tua Pek Kong festival is celebrated once every three years based on the Chinese lunar calendar to commemorate the birthday of Tua Pek Kong.

The street celebration which took place in Sibu town definitely stole the thunder away from the Sibu by-election campaign as the Sibuans are engrossed with the endless procession.

The brief appearance of Prime Minister, Najib Razak also did not sway the attention of the Sibuans.
