Ecuador: Workers Confederation Rejects National Strike

The Ecuadorean United Workers Confederation has rejected opposition calls for a national strike. Many members are participating in the national dialogue on equality and social justice. Opposition indigenous organizations and trade unions have said that the strike will continue. In response to government statements calling the strike a failure, they have said that they will intensify their actions and prepare to close factories. Meanwhile, pro-government forces are holding a permanent vigil outside the presidential palace. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito for teleSUR
