Endangered Asiatic Lion Cubs Born After Flood Tragedy Kills 10

Gir National Park announced that four Asiatic lionesses gave birth to 11 new cubs in Gujarat state. Asiatic lions are an endangered species, with less than 530 species walking the earth. Environmentalists raised concerns about the lions being kept in the national part, which is on a flood plain where the animals are at risk of drowning, but Gujarat has so far resisted relocating the lions. At least 10 lions died in floods early July and another 40 were feared dead or missing.
