Algeria's Berber-Arab clashes: Wind of change blowing across the Algerian desert?

At least 22 people have been killed in clashes between Arabs and Berbers near the Algerian desert town of Ghardaia. The Berber are an ancient people, established in the region before Islam. They have their own language and culture. Clashes in the desert are on the surface about jobs and lack of opportunities, but how deep does this run? Is there any potential for the type of change seen since 2011 in other north African countries?
