Araon and Rediscovery of North Pole Routes
Araon is Korea's first icebreaker built in 2003 to conduct researches in polar regions. With its departure to the North Pole slated for mid-July, researchers docked Araon at Donghae Harbor to check its equipments and condition.

However, the new North Pole route can reduce the total travel distance by 7,000 km. Furthermore, the rich underwater resources in the Arctic is another reason for Araon to develop a sea route.
All eyes are on Araon to see what kind of changes it will make in the development of North Pole routes.
