Crabbing season is back in Daecheongdo Island. However, there is tension, rather than anticipation in the air.
This is because of the unending battle against illegal fishing by Chinese vessels. The Incheon Coast Guard has begun 24 hour patrols and boosted its fleet to 7, adding a 500 dtw grade medium vessel, a 60 dtw grade patrol vessel and 2 special forces high speed vessels.This is to enable medium sized vessels to protect Korean fishermen at sea while using high speed vessels to raid Chinese vessels.
