FAO Recognizes Venezuelan, Argentine Efforts to Eradicate Hunger

Venezuela and Argentine were among the 72 countries recognized by the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) for their efforts to eradicate hunger. At the FAO's biannual meeting held in Rome, Venezuelan Vice President Jorge Arreaza explained the gains achieved in reducing hunger and poverty under the Bolivarian Revolution through a more equitable distribution of resources. The Venezuelan government earmarks 62% of budget spending on social investment. In addressing the FAO meeting, Argentine President Cristina Hernandez explained the country's current economic model based on working toward a more equal and just society is the best way to eradicate hunger.
