Brazil worker dies in World Cup stadium fall

A construction worker has been killed in Brazil after falling from the roof of a World Cup stadium being built in the city of Manaus, making it the second death at the Arena Amazonia in less than a year, and the third fatality in a World Cup stadium in less than a month.
Marcleudo de Melo Ferreira, 22, died in the hospital after falling about 35 meters (115ft) when a cable broke early Saturday morning.
The Brazilian construction firm Andrade Gutierrez in charge of building the stadium said in a statement that Mr. Ferreira worked for a company that had been contracted to build the stadium's cover and an internal investigation of the accident would be carried out. The construction firm said work had been halted until Sunday.
Hours later, another worker died after a heart attack at another construction site nearby. His family said that he was overworked.
Several construction workers have now died at venues being constructed for the World Cup as Brazil races to finish the stadiums on schedule. Brazil has admitted it is struggling to have all 12 stadiums finished on time. Six are ready, while the other six have missed this month's Fifa deadline.
Two workers were killed in an accident on November 27 when a crane fell and destroyed parts of Sao Paulo's Arena Corinthians, which is the location of the opening game on June 12.
