Sweden Rejects Assange Appeal to Lift Detention Order

The Swedish Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Julian Assange to lift the detention order against the embattled Wikileaks founder, who is accused of sexual assault, charges many feel to be political motivated. Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadoran Embassy in London since June 2012 to avoid deportation and possible extradition to the United States. The Ecuadoran government has taken a strong stand in defense of Assange's human rights and has offered the whistleblower political asylum. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito. teleSUR
