A Chinese woman in Kunming surnamed Wang kept eating poisonous mushrooms in years hoping to see dead daughter in illusions.
The 64-year-old woman was hospitalized on Tuesday morning after eating Boletus luridus, a kind of poisonous mushroom. The doctor and nurse felt strange that the woman had been hospitalized many times due to the same food poisoning.
They found out the woman had a daughter who died in a car accident 15 years ago.
Wang misses her daughter everyday. One day she had the poisonous mushroom in a friends house and saw the illusion of her dead daughter. She felt very happy even though she suffered diarrhea afterwards.
That's when Wang started to eat the poisonous mushroom. She tried to cook the mushrooms in different ways and eat different quantities, but she hasn't seen her daughter during any of her hallucinogenic trips since. The doctor said it is impossible to see the same illusion after eating this kind of mushroom. Wang really needs to stop 'shrooming and move on.
