Concealed carry: Neighbors shoot and kill burglary suspect in Channelview, Texas
  • 9 years ago
A married couple in Channelview, Texas shot dead an alleged burglar who broke into their next-door-neighbor’s home.

A Lakeside Drive homeowner’s motion detectors recorded movement around 2 a.m. The owner of the home recently moved out of state and asked the neighbors to keep an eye on the house.

Armed with handguns, the husband and wife saw that the vacant home had been broken into and entered the house. The spooked suspect locked himself in the bathroom and refused orders to come out from the watchdog neighbors.

When the couple unlocked the bathroom door, the suspect lunged at them and they opened fire. The burglar collapsed in the back yard and later died as a result of a gunshot wound to his chest.

The husband and wife each had a license to carry a concealed weapon. Tension was already high in the neighborhood because the home across the street from the shooting had been burglarized just two days earlier.
