Nepal: In Bhaktapur, Earthquake Survivors Share What They Have
  • 9 years ago
The Nepalese government has abandoned hope of finding survivors after last month’s earthquake. Thousands of homes have been lost, and only a few have not collapsed. People who lost their homes have nowhere to go. Tourism and agriculture around the ancient city of Bhaktapur are the engine of the economy, but monuments and temples are now covered in dust and surrounded by debris. Amidst the chaos, the majestic city has not lost its magic. Some women have set up camp near their damaged homes. Neighbors share food and water as they help each other rescue their belongings from the ruins and clean the sacred monuments. teleSUR
