Thousands Say Farewell to Freddie Gray in Baltimore

Thousands of people paid their last respects to Freddie Gray in Baltimore today after a week of huge daily marches demanding justice for the young black man’s death in police custody. A state of emergency was declared and the National Guard called out as youths clashed with police after the funeral, setting fires, looting stores and hurling rocks and bricks. Speakers at a demonstration said police brutality must end right now and called on people “to police the police because they cannot police themselves.” The Baltimore police admit that the arresting officers violated protocol and said today that they are analyzing a video that may provide more clues about Gray’s death. teleSUR
