NYPD shooting: Two police shot in Bronx robbery; suspects still at large

A manhunt is underway for at least one suspect still at large after he and another man shot two New York City police officers who responded to a robbery Monday night.
Around 10.30 p.m. officers Andrew Dossi, 30, and Aliro Pellerano, 38, both from the 46th Precinct responded to robbery at a Bronx deli and followed two suspects to a Chinese eatery where they confronted them. One of the suspects dashed inside the restaurant and drew a handgun.
He and his accomplice then fired on the the officers. Officer Pellerano was struck in the arm and back. Dossi was struck in the arm and stomach.
Witnessed reported hearing the gunfire. “I heard six shots,” said Stephen Melowski, 36. “I looked out and I saw the shot cops getting inside a car. Somebody was saying, ‘Oh my God, oh my God!’ ”
The robbery suspects then exchanged fire with at other responding police before hijacking a white Chevrolet Camaro. They drove the car a short distance before crashing it at 188th street, where they got out and ran from the scene.
The New York Post reports a weapon was recovered at 189th Street and Park.
Both suspects are described as Hispanic males in their mid-20s. Early reports say one man gunshot who sought treatment for a gunshot wound was apprehended and may be a suspect in the shooting.
Both officers were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment. Dossi underwent surgery Tuesday morning. Both men escaped life-threatening wounds.
