Washington Navy Shipyard shooting leaves 12 dead, 2 suspects at large

A shooting rampage at the US Navy Yard in Washington DC left at least 12 victims dead and several others injured, including two police officers.

In addition, one suspect is dead and police are searching for two other possible shooters dressed in military-style clothing.

The shooting began at about 8:15am, according to Metropolitan police officials. Responding officers were on the scene within seven minutes.

Police engaged the shooter inside Building 197 at the Washington Navy Yard. One police officer was injured. The shooter died in the exchange. Police have yet to identify the shooter.

City officials said two other suspects may have been involved: a white male wearing a tan military-style uniform who was seen carrying a handgun. And a black male wearing an olive colored uniform who was seen carrying a long gun.
