Turkey has arrested an alleged spy for helping three British schoolgirls to cross into Syria to join Islamic State.

A video released by a Turkish broadcaster on Friday shows the three British schoolgirls, who flew to Istanbul from London on February 17, meeting a man in the southeastern Turkish city of Gaziantep, according to Reuters. He allegedly helped them to enter Syria.

The man is reportedly a Syrian national working for a country in a coalition against Islamic State. The coalition includes countries such as the European Union member countries, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Australia and Canada. The man was arrested in Turkey, according to Reuters.

The man reportedly said to police that he provided service to an official at Canada's embassy in Jordan, but Canadian government said he was not employed by Canadian intelligence, Reuters reported.
