CSR Communications on FTSE100 Websites is Subpar: Black Sun Report - CSR Minute

The latest update on communications about corporate social responsibility is a good news/bad news message. This time, it?s delivered by Black Sun, a communications consultancy, in a recent survey of FTSE100 Index company website. As reported by PR Week, Black Sun?s analysis shows that 80% have a CSR section in the main navigation of their website. That?s the good news.

Now the bad news: in many cases, the content of the section does not provide clear insights into the approach, objectives, and performance of CSR. The survey also notes that FTSE100 websites fail to provide adequate information to key stakeholder groups. Two-thirds do not make a case for investment in the Investor Relations section, while fewer than half include positive reasons to work for the company in their Careers section. The bad news gets worse with the finding that 30% of companies do not even explain what their business does on the home page, and only 5% clearly articulate their strategy, business model, and key performance indicators. Sounds like there?s room for improvement in the CSR communications department.
