Cast of a French reality TV show are killed in a helicopter collision in Argentina

A collision between two helicopters in Argentina has left ten people dead. Among them, eight French nationals who are thought to have been taking part in channel TF1’s reality show called “Dropped”.

It is unclear what caused the accident which happened in good weather. Both Argentine pilots were also killed.

Wreckage from the helicopters came down in La Rioja province near the village of Villa Castelli where the survival competition had been held for three years.

The cast of this season’s show had included several celebrated sports men and women. Fifty-seven year old Yachtswoman Florence Arthaud was one.

So too was the 25-year-old swimmer Camille Muffat who won gold for the 400 metre free style at the 2012 London Olympics.

Twenty-eight year old boxer Alexis Vastine who won a bronze in the 2008 games is also reported to be among the victims.

Five others from the production are also believed to have been killed in the collision.
