DEA Discourages Marijuana Legalization, Says Rabbits Will Always Be Stoned

Utah is in the process of deciding whether or not medicinal marijuana edibles should be legalized, and the DEA recently weighed in on the matter.

Utah is in the process of deciding whether or not medicinal marijuana edibles should be legalized, and the DEA recently weighed in on the matter. 


Special Agent Matt Fairbanks told the state’s Senate panel that doing so could result in unwanted effects on wildlife, particularly rabbits. 


He said that the small, furry mammals are at risk of becoming addicted and losing their natural instincts. 


As support for his statement, the agent told a story about a bunny that lived near a grow site. 


He recounted a time when a rabbit refused to leave the area, even after all of the pot had been cleared from its immediate vicinity, as his natural impulse to flee had vanished.
