French farmers main beneficiaries of EU's Common Agricultural Policy

The EU's Common Agricultural Policy was launched in 1962 in order to ensure the continent’s food security. Half a century later, Europe’s system of farming subsidies remains controversial because it accounts for almost 40% of the EU budget. That’s why Brussels has launched a comprehensive reform of its flagship programme in a bid to make it greener and more efficient.
In this first part of the show, we talk to French farmers in the Périgord region to see how they feel about the CAP.
We also interview France's Agriculture Minister Stéphane Le Foll in his native Sarthe region, and speak to farming consultant François Seegers.
Finally, we speak to French winegrowers in Bordeaux about the challenges they face.
