The 'Greetingman' Project: Spreading Korean Public Art Around the World- artist scultor,Yoo Young-ho
In Montevideo, Uruguay, exactly halfway across the world from Korea, there is a 6-meter tall blue sculpture of a man bowing? this is the Greetingman. He transcends both culture and race, sharing a message of peace and reconciliation with all. The Greetingman is a global project that aims to install versions of the sculpture in places that have been affected by wars, are historically significant, or mark locations where civilizations have interacted.
The man behind this Korean messenger of peace is artist Yoo Young-ho. While was studying in Germany, he came to realize the importance of a greeting in opening up communication between people and cultures.
With the goal of establishing Greetingman sculptures in 1000 significant locations around the world, in 2015 Greetingman #3, #4, and #5 are set to be installed in South America. This week on Heart to Heart, we talk with Yoo Young-ho to hear the incredible story of a global public art project that has captured the hearts of people all around the world.
