Alcohol Poisoning Deaths Most Likely To Occur In Middle-Aged Men

Nearly three-fourths of all alcohol poisoning deaths in the U.S. occur among middle-aged adults, fueled in large part by binge drinking.
Surprising statistics about alcohol poisoning deaths were recently released in a report by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The agency found that an average of six Americans die every day from alcohol poisoning, totaling more than 2,200 deaths each year.
Most of these deaths were concentrated not among college students as one might expect but among adults ages 35 to 64 which composed about three-fourths of all fatalities.
Of this group of middle-aged deaths, most were non-Hispanic white men.
These findings were based on the CDC’s analysis of alcohol poisoning deaths of people 15 years and older from 2010-2012.
