Governor: New York anticipates flooding to "some extent"

As western New York reels from days of heavy snowfall that left many residents bound to their homes, officials said on Saturday (November 22) that rising temperatures and melting snow could lead to the next emergency -- flooding.
"We don't have a crystal ball, we can't say whether or not there will be a flooding problem. We can't say what kind of structure collapses we may have, but we anticipate both to some extent," New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told reporters inside a warehouse of emergency supplies.
Warm temperatures and rain were forecast for the weekend in the city of Buffalo and western New York state, bringing the threat of widespread flooding to the region bound for days by deep snow -- as much as seven feet (2 meters) in some parts.
So far, at least 13 deaths have been blamed on the weather.
