Not all thieves are unapologetic individuals. One man who is accused of stealing money from a Florida grocery store backs up that statement.

On November 9th, the male entered the Publix store in Pompano Beach. The suspect approached a cashier and placed a newspaper down.

Then he walked to the back of the checkout area and picked up another newspaper. He glanced down at it, giving the cashier the impression he was reading it, but when her back was turned he looked up and kept a watchful eye on the register.

He handed the woman the second newspaper and rifled through his pocket for money. When the cash drawer opened up, however, he reached over the cashier and stole handfuls of money.

According to police, moments before he swiped the bills, he told the store staffer “I’m sorry I have to do this.” He was able to run out of the business with the cash.

Police have not yet been able to locate the suspect. He is described as a white male in his 40s. A $3,000 reward is now being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest.
