Alleged Thief Distracts Store Owner And Steals Money Right Out Of His Pocket

An alleged thief in London recently used the art of distraction to swipe money from the pockets of a store owner.

CCTV footage shows the suspect walking into the business and looking around the shop for a few moments before focusing his attention on the owner.
Right away, the man began moving his hands in a series of seemingly odd gestures. He got very close to the shopkeeper and touched his body a number of times.
Police later learned the suspect had told the victim his wife was pregnant and he reached for the male’s stomach area while describing her condition.
The polite store owner listened to his story and stood there motionless as the crook reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of money. The suspect talked to the victim the entire time, but once he had the cash in his hands, he turned and fled from the store.
Amazingly, the owner didn’t realize he had been pickpocketed right away, even though he was facing the man while his pockets were rifled through.
The victim was in a trance-like state after hearing the man’s story but quickly came to and realized he had been robbed. He ran after the suspect, but couldn’t catch up.
Police have not yet located him and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
