Radcliffe grows Horns in latest movie

Daniel Radcliffe, best known for being a shy schoolboy in Harry Potter, has grown up and plays a far more sinister and darker character in the new horror film Horns.
It tells the story of a man who is accused of the rape and murder of his girlfriend. Ostracised, he wakes up one day to find he has grown horns and possesses supernatural powers and goes in search of the real killer.
The British actor attended the UK premiere of the film in London along with his co-star Juno Temple.
Radcliffe said he welcomed the opportunity to show a different side to his acting capabilities.
“It’s great. I’ve been lucky enough that people have given me the opportunity to be in dark stuff outside of Potter. I think because Potter got dark towards the end, people are readily accepting of that and definitely with this film though, I’ve never played a character like this before. He is a very good person and very pure of heart, but he does some very terrible things in the film so yeah, all of that was great fun to tap into,” explained Radcliffe.
Based on the novel by Joe Hill and directed by Alexandre Aja, Horns is a supernatural thriller driven by fantasy, mystery and romance. The film follows Ig Perrish, the main suspect for murder of his girlfriend, Merrin. Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realises their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true killer.
Temple said it was the romantic in her that inspired her to take on the role:
“Definitely the love story, I just think it’s a powerful love story and working with Alex Aja (the director) and working with Daniel Radcliffe. I mean what a joyous team of gentlemen to get to hang out with and work with and learn from and be inspired by. Alex created this incredible safe set for us to be able to go to these dark areas at times. And then Dan is just one of the most giving and miraculous young men I’ve ever worked with.”
Horns is set to open in the UK and Ireland on 29 October.
