At least two killed in an attack on an Afghan police headquarters

Tightened security after suicide attackers unleashed bullets on this police headquarters in Afghanistan.

Two gunmen dressed as police attacked the command post in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif, killing at least two and wounding more than a dozen others.

Acting Police Chief Abdul Razaq Qaderi.

(SOUNDBITE) (Dari) ACTING POLICE CHIEF OF BALKH PROVINCE, ABDUL RAZAQ QADERI, SAYING:

"Two suicide attackers dressed in police uniform and armed with guns wanted to enter the provincial police headquarters. Both of them were shot dead, as you can see their dead bodies, some of our police officers were wounded and two of them are in a critical condition."

Attacks such as these are rare in this region, but other parts of the country frequently come under fire from insurgents.
