Netanyahu warns Obama about allowing Iran to reach nuclear arms "threshold"

At a White House meeting Wednesday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Barack Obama that he hopes the U.S. leader will make sure that any final nuclear deal between Iran and world powers does not allow Tehran to stand at the "threshold" of being able to develop nuclear weapons.

(SOUNDBITE) (English)ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER BENJAMIN NETANYAHU, SAYING:

"As you know Mr. President Iran seeks a deal that would lift the tough sanctions that you worked so hard to put in place and leave it as a threshold nuclear power. And I fervently hope, that under your leadership that would not happen."

Pressing Netanyahu on Middle East peace efforts after U.S.-sponsored talks collapsed in April, Obama said the status quo between Israel and the Palestinians was not sustainable.
