Philadelphia Zoo Staffer Killed By Falling Golf Cart

Tragically, a man who was a longtime staffer at the Philadelphia Zoo has passed away. Reportedly, a golf cart fell on the 50-something-year-old male.

Tragically, a man who was a longtime staffer at the Philadelphia Zoo recently passed away at work.

The as yet unidentified victim in his 50’s, was going about his work when the ‘heavy duty’ cart reportedly fell and he was left pinned underneath it.

After the accident, the man was quickly transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately his injuries were too extensive and he was declared dead at the facility.

Following his passing, the Director of Communications at the Philadelphia Zoo released a statement which reads in part “It is with great sadness that I am reporting a tragic incident that occurred at the Zoo… Grief counseling will be onsite for staff who will need help through this terrible situation.”

Zoo spokeswoman Dana Lombardo did confirm the victim worked at the zoo for quite some time and was responsible for maintaining the golf carts. The fatal accident occurred in a garage that is closed off to visitors.
