ARTISTS SHINE LIGHT ON CLIMATE CHANGE ISSUES
Hundreds of thousands of people have taken part in rallies across the globe in the run up to the Climate Summit which opened in New York on Tuesday, calling on world leaders to take concrete measures to tackle climate change. Artists have also joined the global movement, creating performances to highlight the environmental issue.
In Australia for example, several dozen artists came up with an extremely novel way of reaching out to their government, with a very clear message: you`ve got your head in the sand. The aim of this unusual protest was to criticize Canberra`s lack of action over climate change and prompt a change in policy. The performance was coordinated by a Conservation group and has been widely relayed on social networks.
Activists from the “Raging Grannies” organization have put their grievances to music, and were singing at the massive New York Climate Change march over the weekend. The lyrics urge global political leaders to take urgent steps to protect the planet for future generations.
Spanish artist Isaac Cordal has the same request. Over the past few years he has been creating miniature sculptures, warning web users of the threats of climate change. The artworks depict the tragic consequences of global warming, and people doing what they can to get by.
