Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. used the term ‘squalid’ to describe the conditions inside the Blackstone residence where the bodies were located.

Early commented “The house is filled with vermin. We have flies. We have bugs. We have used diapers, in some areas, as much as a foot-and-a-half to two-feet high."

On August 28, four children, aged 13, 10, six and three months, were removed from the house after a neighbor reported the living environment. Approximately two weeks later, state police detectives discovered the infant’s bodies while investigating a case of ‘reckless endangerment’ of the children.

Early commented “The house is filled with vermin. We have flies. We have bugs. We have used diapers, in some areas, as much as a foot-and-a-half to two-feet high. The house is in a deplorable condition.”

Detectives had to wear hazardous materials suits while inside the residence. The four children who were removed are now in state custody.

A 31-year-old woman named Erika Murray, who reportedly lives in the home, has been arrested.
