Moment of closure for Concordia survivors

Deck five of the Costa Concordia cruise ship is refloated -- and it won't be long before deck four of the shipwreck emerges as well.

Workers are making final preparations to refloat this once-gleaming ship -- now a pile of scrap.

A German couple returned to the Island of Giglio, where Captain Schettino ran the Concordia aground, killing 32 people.

Moments of closure as they bid the ship farewell.

"I am here to say good-bye to the Costa Concordia, on which our second lives started."

(SOUNDBITE) (German) COSTA CONCORDIA SHIPWRECK SURVIVOR, HELMUT BUTTKUS, SAYING:

"The most critical moment for me was when we boarded the lifeboat and it went down along the side of the Concordia which was already tilted. It went down by two or three metres until the ropes reached their limit. They were not long enough, so they had to be disconnected and everything fell down sharply.
