Dozens killed in car bombs across Baghdad

Scenes of violence in Baghdad.

Attacks like this were repeated across the Iraqi capital.

In total there were a dozen blasts in mainly Shi'ite districts.

Dozens of people have died in explosions, including one near a cinema, a popular juice shop and a Shi'ite mosque.

Scores more were wounded.

Here in the New Baghdad district, this man witnessed one attack.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) HUSSEIN TAQI, EYEWITNESS, SAYING:

"A car came and parked here and its driver walked away. Ten minutes later the car went off. All the shops were closed, but there were four boys collecting Pepsi cans from the garbage (pointing), all of them were killed and a child and a man here were killed too and his pieces of flesh are still here."

Cars were damaged and windows in neighbouring shops and buildings were smashed.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for these bombings on Saturday.
