After a massive manhunt lasting hours, Canadian police arrest a man they believe shot dead three officers, wounding two more.

The men were killed while responding to a report of an armed man spotted in northern Moncton.

"He had a couple guns. On his back a crossbow. Knives all over his pants. All the ammo geared up."

"He just had the most blank look on his face that he was on a mission, ready to do something. My stomach dropped. I had the worst feeling in my gut."

Hundreds of police cordoned off a large area of New Brunswick on Thursday, warning residents to stay in their homes.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JEAN WILLIAMS, MONCTON RESIDENT SAYING:

"They stopped us with guns drawn. Just wanted to look in the truck to make sure we were okay and nobody else was in the vehicle with us."

This man is believed to be responsible.
