Young Children Stabbed in Brooklyn Elevator

NYPD investigators are searching for a male suspect who allegedly stabbed two young children in an elevator.
NYPD investigators are searching for a male suspect who allegedly stabbed two young children in an elevator. The disturbing incident occurred inside a Brooklyn apartment complex at approximately 6 on a Sunday evening.
Resulting from the attack, a 6-year-old boy died and a 7-year-old girl is left in critical condition. The young boy’s birthday was just around the corner.
He was going to turn 7 on June 17th. Instead of planning a birthday party, his relatives are trying to keep it together to organize funeral proceedings.
The two children were reportedly best friends and had decided to leave their homes to get Icees on the evening of the violent occurrence. They both lived in the complex where the stabbing took place.
The suspect fled on foot right after stabbing the children. Police describe him as a 20-something year old heavyset man.
No arrests have yet been made in the case, however the knife was found at the scene. Investigators do not believe the children are related to the assailant.
It’s not known if there’s any connection to the suspect or if it was just a random attack. The female victim remains in the hospital with a collapsed lung.
